ETF Outflows Test Crypto Demand Amid Market Downturn
Crypto ETFs are experiencing a significant downturn, marked by eight consecutive weeks of withdrawals totaling $8 billion in June and July. However, inflows returned in early August, with around $1.05 billion flowing into these products during the first week of the month.
According to Yves Renno, Head of Trading at Wirex, this trend is a healthy correction against significant accumulation since 2024. 'Appetite is cooling, not necessarily fleeing,' he said, adding that the market is shaking out weak investors before a steadier phase of allocation.
The recovery in ETF demand suggests that institutional participation can remain substantial while allocations become more price-sensitive. In July, Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $403 million in monthly net inflows, with Ethereum products drawing around $359 million.
