ETF Rally Fades as Worldcoin Concentration Concerns Bite
Worldcoin (WLD) experienced a sharp price movement of 3.54 percentage points over the last ~33 hours, driven by a combination of factors.
The rally started on August 10, when several market digests highlighted that spot Bitcoin ETFs saw their largest net inflows since May, with roughly $850M+ flowing in over five days. This led to a bounce in major cryptocurrencies like BTC and ETH, which in turn pulled WLD higher by about 10-13% intraday to around $0.34-$0.345.
The technical structure of the market also played a role, with WLD breaking above a $0.33-$0.34 resistance band on August 10. However, this breakout was short-lived, as traders began to reassess risk once news broke about Eightco Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed company that is the largest disclosed WLD holder.
Eightco's massive loss on its WLD position and concentration fears sparked a renewed public narrative around WLD's supply concentration and unlock history. This cluster of information led to profit-taking and short-term technical selling as traders faded the earlier ETF-driven pump and reassessed risk, particularly once WLD failed to break cleanly above resistance.
