ETF Stakes $80M in Ethereum, Whales Accumulate Amid Ongoing Price Pressure
A regulated Ethereum ETF has staked a significant portion of its holdings on the Beacon Chain, underscoring institutional confidence in the network's proof-of-stake security model. Purpose Investments' ETF deposited approximately $80 million worth of ETH into the deposit contract, accounting for 36.6% of its total holdings.
The staking move reduces circulating supply pressure and demonstrates growing comfort among regulated fund managers with locking up assets to earn network rewards. This trend is significant, as institutional staking has historically been a key indicator of long-term confidence in Ethereum.
Separately, the Ethereum Foundation announced a grant through its Trillion Dollar Security (1TS) program to support the development of WEBCAT, an open-source tool that verifies website front-end code. The project aims to strengthen trust in wallets and decentralized applications by addressing vulnerabilities related to HTTPS secures connections but not code itself.
On-chain data shows whales continuing to accumulate ETH even as prices remain below their realized price. Addresses holding between 10,000 and 100,000 ETH now hold a record 19.6 million tokens, while larger wallets have added roughly 1.8 million tokens since mid-2025. This trend often precedes a market inflection.
Additionally, Token Terminal data highlights Ethereum's continued dominance as the primary settlement layer for stablecoin liquidity, with $7.5 billion in USDC market cap growth over the past year. This underscores the network's role in DeFi lending, trading, and RWA activity.
