Ethena and Optimism Unleash $41M in Tokens Amid Scalability Efforts
Ethena Labs' algorithmic stablecoin, USDe, has unlocked a significant amount of tokens, worth approximately $40.58 million. This development comes as the stablecoin continues to rely on collateral consisting of BTC and stETH, along with their inherent yields, to maintain its peg and generate yield. The stablecoin also establishes short positions in Bitcoin and ETH to hedge Delta and leverage perpetual/futures funding rates.
The specific release curve for the unlocked tokens is not disclosed, but it is mentioned that the stablecoin uses spot yield to offset losses from a one-times short position, achieving balance while still capturing ETH staking rewards and short funding rates.
Meanwhile, Optimism, a Layer 2 scaling solution, has also unlocked tokens, worth approximately $590,000. Optimism achieves Ethereum network scalability by adopting Optimistic Rollups, enabling high-volume transaction processing while maintaining Ethereum's security.
