Ethereum Blasts Past $2,300 on Regulatory Tailwind and Technical Catalyst
The Ethereum market has been on fire lately, surging over 26% in just one week to break past the $2,300 threshold.
This sudden rally is being driven by a combination of factors, including an unusual convergence of Washington politics and a network upgrade.
On Thursday, President Trump expressed a 'bullish' stance on the Clarity Act, a bill that aims to settle whether cryptocurrencies are classified as securities or commodities. The Senate vote on this measure is scheduled for September 15, adding a layer of urgency to the legislative push.
The Treasury Department's plan to double its long-duration bond buybacks has also helped fuel the rally, with the resulting decline in long-term yields acting as a release valve for risk assets across the board.
A significant portion of this growth can be attributed to the forced unwinding of bearish bets, with roughly $2.7 billion in short positions being liquidated on Thursday alone.
