Ethereum Books Its Strongest Third Quarter on Record
Ethereum's third quarter was its strongest on record, with a 70.6 percent gain from July 1 to September 30. This surpasses the previous record of 66.55 percent from 2025. Bitcoin, on the other hand, rose by 42.8 percent over the same period.
The price of Ethereum rose from $1,569.83 to $2,689.39, while Bitcoin increased from $58,566.09 to $83,640.10. The quarterly high for Ethereum was $2,775.17, which is just 85 dollars above its current price.
Three developments contributed to Ethereum's outperformance: the introduction of spot ETFs in the US, which saw inflows of between 10 and 14 billion dollars; companies adding Ethereum to their balance sheets, worth more than 15 billion dollars; and the growth of capital locked in DeFi applications on Ethereum and its layer-2 networks to around 88 billion dollars.
