Ethereum Breaks Decade-Long Downtrend vs Bitcoin
Bitcoin's recent price surge has some analysts predicting it may trade above $82,000 within a week. However, one expert suggests that Ethereum may be quietly positioning for a shift in market leadership.
John Gillen from Milk Road Show pointed out that the ETH/BTC ratio has broken a roughly ten-year downtrend, but cautioned that this breakout could still be false and a retest is possible. Despite this, Ethereum retains its dominance in tokenization, stablecoins, and DeFi use cases.
Gillen's comments come as Bitcoin surged towards $80,000 this week due to billions of dollars in short positions being liquidated and spot demand returning to the market. The analyst acknowledged that momentum and FOMO appear to be winning out for now, but was uncertain if the move would hold.
