Bitcoin and Ethereum both closed their strongest month of 2026 in July, but only one asset appears to be turning a corner.

Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin with a 20% gain compared to the 9% rise in Bitcoin's price. This divergence marks the first meaningful split between the two assets in nearly a year.

Bitcoin started July near $60,000 and is trading around $64,500 heading into Friday's close. However, it has failed to break above $68,000 twice this month, a level identified by analyst DonAlt as the threshold for a genuine recovery.
