Ethereum Celebrates 11 Years of Innovation and Growth
Ethereum has reached its 11th anniversary, marking a decade of innovation and growth. Since its mainnet launch in 2015, Ethereum has evolved from an ambitious vision to a thriving digital ecosystem. It has transformed how developers build decentralized applications (dApps), enabled the rise of DeFi, powered the NFT revolution, and pioneered innovations such as smart contracts, Layer-2 scaling solutions, and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus.
Over the past 11 years, Ethereum has seen numerous milestones. In late 2013, Vitalik Buterin published the Ethereum Whitepaper, introducing the concept of a programmable blockchain capable of running smart contracts. The public token sale began in July 2014 and raised over 31,000 BTC. Ethereum officially went live with its genesis block on July 30th, 2015.
Ethereum's journey has not been without challenges. In 2016, the DAO exploit led to a hard fork, resulting in Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC). However, each major upgrade has strengthened the network's scalability, security, and usability, enabling developers to build increasingly sophisticated dApps.
Looking ahead, Ethereum continues to evolve while remaining at the centre of blockchain innovation. Its roadmap focuses on enhancing scalability, improving user experience, and supporting broader adoption through future protocol upgrades.
