Ethereum Consolidation Above $2,400 Sparks Hope for Altcoin Market
Cryptocurrency trader DonAlt has identified Ethereum's post-breakout consolidation above $2,400 as a key technical signal for the broader altcoin market. The trader, known for accurately calling XRP's 2024-2025 rally, views Ethereum's ability to hold support at this level as crucial in determining near-term sentiment across digital assets.
DonAlt began accumulating Ethereum on August 13 at approximately $1,878 and has since seen the asset gain more than 30%. The current consolidation above a major breakout zone near $2,400 is 'exactly what you'd like to see' following a decisive move higher, according to DonAlt.
The trader's technical setup for Ethereum highlights key levels at $1,878 (entry point), $2,400 (must hold to validate breakout), and $2,815.68 (next resistance). Institutional flows have also reinforced the move, with $220.77 million in spot ETH ETF inflows during the late-August rally.
A decisive loss of the $2,400 support level would invalidate the breakout and could dampen risk appetite across assets that typically follow Ethereum's lead. Holding above it keeps the $2,815.68 resistance in play and provides an important signal for altcoins more broadly.
