Ethereum Developer Proposes Confidential Token Interface with Enhanced Compliance Controls

A new Ethereum token interface has been proposed by developer Aryeh Greenberg to add compliance checks and issuer enforcement powers to confidential tokens representing real-world assets.

The draft, which is currently unmerged, extends ERC-7984 and targets a gap between confidentiality and issuer control. It adapts the approach of ERC-7943 RWA interface, which defines eligibility checks, freezing, and forced transfers for conventional tokens.

The new interface would allow applications to check publicly whether an address is eligible to send or receive confidential tokens, while keeping the actual transfer amounts and spendable balances private. Authorized parties could also force a transfer without the holder's consent, but only if the recipient is eligible.
