Ethereum Ditches Staking Reward Burn Proposal From Hegota Upgrade
Ethereum's proposed change to burn a growing share of validator staking rewards has been removed from the Hegota upgrade process. The decision was made after pushback from industry participants and core contributors, who argue that an issuance change requires a separate review track rather than a fork scoping process.
The proposal, EIP-8363, aimed to burn a rising share of Ethereum validator rewards. However, its authors, including Jérôme de Tychey, president of Ethereum France, have decided to withdraw the proposal from consideration for the Hegota upgrade.
Instead, the issuance change will now be addressed through a separate process with forums and workshops running through EthCC in April. Lido has offered to participate in steering the next phase of the debate on validator reward policy outside the Hegota upgrade scope.
