Ethereum Dominance in Tokenized Assets Masks Growing Competition in On-Chain Economy
The world of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) has reached a significant milestone, with over $38.69 billion in distributed value as of late August 2026, according to RWA.xyz. Ethereum holds roughly $17.5 billion of that total, nearly 45 percent of the entire market.
While Ethereum's dominance is clear, the question remains whether holding the most tokenized assets is the same thing as winning the RWA race. A growing body of evidence suggests that the value in tokenized finance is migrating from issuance to what happens after the asset arrives on chain.
Ethereum's position as the leader can be attributed to its infrastructure, institutional relationships, and compliance tooling. The largest tokenization platforms have built their infrastructure around it, with Securitize operating primarily on Ethereum and Ondo launching there as well.
