Ethereum EIP-8363 Proposal Sparks Opposition Amid Deletions
Ethereum developers are facing criticism for allegedly suppressing opposition to EIP-8363, a proposal that aims to reduce staking rewards if staked ETH reaches 50% of circulating supply. According to pro-crypto attorney Gabriel Shapiro, about 50 comments opposing the proposal were deleted from an ETH Magicians discussion thread, with most of the removed posts coming from critics.
Aave CEO Stani Kulechov and Ether.Fi's Mike Silagadze joined in opposition, arguing that the proposal could affect Ethereum credit markets and solo stakers. Validator signaling showed only 3% support for the proposal, while 97% were opposed at the time of writing.
Ethereum core developers plan to accelerate quantum-resistance work beginning in 2027, with full Layer 1 deployment targeted for 2028. Researcher Justin Drake described the Ethereum Foundation's post-quantum team as moving 'at breakneck speed', shifting away from Poseidon toward SHA or BLAKE hashing.
