Ethereum EIP-8363 Withdrawn From Consideration for Hegotá Network Upgrade
Ethereum's EIP-8363, a proposal to partially burn staking rewards, has been withdrawn from consideration for adoption in the upcoming Hegotá network upgrade. The decision was made after a lengthy discussion process involving multiple stakeholders and Ethereum developers.
The proposal aimed to address concerns about the current staking reward system, which some argued would lead to an imbalance in the network's security and centralization. EIP-8363 suggested burning a portion of new Ether issued as rewards for validators, proportionate to the total staked Ether.
However, during the discussion process, several stakeholders expressed concerns that the proposal would be better suited as a separate policy change rather than being bundled with the network upgrade. The proposers ultimately agreed and withdrew the EIP from consideration for Hegotá adoption.
