Ethereum Endorses EIP-8198 to Speed Up Transaction Confirmations
The Ethereum community has endorsed EIP-8198, a proposal to reduce slot time on the network. This move is expected to speed up transaction confirmations and on-chain market price updates.
Ethlabs, a non-profit organization, promoted the Quick Slots proposal, which suggests transitioning from a fixed 12-second slot duration to a customizable parameter. Developers could then gradually reduce it in future updates.
The current version of the EIP uses eight seconds as a benchmark, but the exact value should be determined after performance testing. Ethlabs suggests starting with a more conservative 10 seconds.
