Ethereum Explores Hybrid Blockchain Governance with Bitcoin Inspiration
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has made significant statements about the potential future of Ethereum, citing Bitcoin as an example. According to Buterin, Ethereum is exploring a hybrid model that combines different blockchain governance approaches to increase scalability. He stated that this approach would aim to combine the strengths of various state management models, including UTXO-type state, dynamic state, and models in between.
In his comments, Buterin praised the Bitcoin camp for pioneering ideas related to UTXO models through projects like Utreexo. However, he clarified that Ethereum's current account model is not being abandoned in favor of a complete switch to the UTXO model. Instead, this approach is being evaluated as part of ongoing research and protocol design.
The potential benefits of such an approach include achieving higher transaction capacity while keeping node operating costs under control and preserving decentralized features. However, the development process has just begun, and it remains to be seen whether Ethereum will ultimately adopt a hybrid model or stick with its current account-based system.
