Pascal Caversaccio, a well-known security researcher in the Ethereum community, has joined the Ethereum Foundation's Board of Directors for a one-year voluntary term. This appointment comes after the Foundation made significant cuts to its budget and staff size, reducing its workforce by 20% and winding down its Privacy and Scaling Explorations lab.

Caversaccio has spent years working on Ethereum security audits and smart contract tooling, and is also a member of the Foundation's Silviculture Society, an internal group focused on protocol research. His board term is unpaid and runs for one year, according to the Ethereum Foundation's own announcement.

The appointment signals that the Foundation wants a dedicated security and privacy voice at the board level while the organization runs with a smaller staff and budget than it had six months ago. Caversaccio's seat will open again in July 2027, when the board will need to decide whether to renew his term or bring in a different security voice.
