Ethereum Foundation Proposes Transaction Outcome Verification
The Ethereum Foundation is investigating ways to ensure transactions yield the intended results. A proposed solution, EIP-7906, could introduce Native Transaction Assertions, allowing transactions to include conditions for their outcomes. The system would then verify changes to balances, contract storage, code, and events post-execution, rolling back any transactions that fail to meet these conditions.
This mechanism aims to address discrepancies between user intentions and actual transaction effects, even when signatures and simulations are used. By enforcing specified results, it seeks to prevent unintended consequences that may arise during execution.
EIP-7906 is one of the potential implementations for this feature, but its inclusion in an Ethereum upgrade remains undecided. The proposal reflects ongoing efforts to enhance transaction reliability and user confidence in the Ethereum network.
