Ethereum Foundation Unveils Q2 2026 Research Update
The Ethereum Foundation has announced an update on its research and development efforts for the second quarter of 2026. The update highlights several key projects that are advancing the blockchain's security, scalability, and usability.
One notable project is the continued development of the Lighthouse client, which will see enhancements to its ePBS, Gloas, and partial messages networking for mainnet. This work aims to expand tree sync, the Diamond testing framework, and ZK-verified consensus.
The Lodestar consensus client is also being developed and maintained by the Ethereum Foundation's Application team. The hard forks and protocol research supported by this project aim to improve operator UX and ecosystem tooling for TypeScript and Zig Ethereum communities.
Security enhancements are also a key focus of the update, with several projects aimed at improving Ethereum's resilience to vulnerabilities. The EL+CL & Glamsterdam Security project is one example, which proactively identifies execution and consensus layer client vulnerabilities ahead of the Glamsterdam upgrade.
