Ethereum Gains on Bitcoin in Institutional Interest as ETF Flows Indicate Shift

Bitcoin and Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have diverged in their performance over the past few weeks. While Bitcoin ETFs are experiencing marginal outflows, Ethereum funds are attracting fresh money. This trend has sparked questions about whether institutions are shifting their focus from Bitcoin to Ethereum.

The latest data shows that Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows, with Fidelity's FBTC recording a withdrawal of $46.8 million. However, BlackRock's IBIT recorded $14.3 million in inflows, which helps mitigate the larger negative effect. In contrast, Ethereum ETFs marked about $7.38 million in net flows, led by BlackRock's ETHA.

This indicates that Ethereum is attracting institutional funds at a faster rate than Bitcoin. Despite this shift, the numbers are still relatively small, and it's too early to say whether institutions have begun rotating from BTC to ETH. The performance of these cryptocurrencies' prices over the past few weeks could provide more clues on changing investor sentiment.

Recently, Ethereum has shown slight signs of strength against Bitcoin, making the ETH/BTC ratio an important metric to watch. While Bitcoin is valued at $63,611, with a 1.10% weekly decline, Ethereum is trading at $1,886, down 0.9%. The current ETH/BTC ratio is 0.0296, meaning one ETH is worth approximately 0.0296 BTC.
