Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Enters Final Stretch
The Ethereum Foundation's Glamsterdam upgrade is nearing completion, according to researcher Toni Wahrstätter. In an update on X, Wahrstätter said that things are looking good for both Glamsterdam and EIP-7928 (Block-Level Access Lists), with the project in its final stretch.
The first public test of Glamsterdam is scheduled to take place soon, with testing continuing on devnets. The Sepolia fork is set to occur on October 6, 2026, while the mainnet launch is expected in Q4 2026 without a specific date yet announced.
The Glamsterdam upgrade has three key goals: speeding up processing through parallelization, expanding capacity, and preventing database bloat through sustainability. A significant component of the upgrade is ePBS, which revamps the block validation pipeline by reducing trust assumptions, while BALs bring parallelization to Ethereum.
