Ethereum Hegotá Upgrade Sees Staking Reward Burn Proposal Withdrawn
Ethereum's Hegotá upgrade has seen a significant change in plans as the staking reward burn proposal, EIP-8363, has been withdrawn.
The proposal aimed to phase out validator rewards over an 18-month period by burning them to curb high staking ratios. However, it received intense criticism from developers and solo stakers, ultimately leading to its withdrawal on October 1.
This means that the Hegotá upgrade will not include any reduction in staking rewards for now. The Ethereum price is currently trading at $2,730, with a less than 1% gain over the past 24 hours.
The market's focus has shifted to macro catalysts such as the September U.S. jobs report, Fed expectations, Treasury yields, and ETF flows, which may have a greater impact on Ethereum's near-term direction.
