Ethereum Hits 11th Birthday with Record Gas Limits and Adoption

Ethereum marked its 11th anniversary on July 30, reaching new heights in terms of gas limits and transaction adoption. The network now operates on a 60 million gas limit, more than double what it was two years ago.

This increase is largely due to the widespread use of rollups, which carry approximately 95% of all transactions. This shift has allowed Ethereum to process a significant number of transactions without overwhelming its base layer.

On the anniversary morning, blocks were landing around 229 transactions each, with an average of 21 transactions per second on the base layer. The network was running at about 55% fullness, and the base fee sat near 5.3 gwei.
