Ethereum Holders Flee Exchanges Amid Price Rally

Ethereum's price has seen a significant surge of 27% since August 16, reaching $2,528 per unit. However, this rally is accompanied by an unusual trend: Ethereum holders are withdrawing their coins from centralized exchanges.

A total of 1.4 million ETH was withdrawn between June 3 and August 27, reducing the liquid supply available for sale on major trading platforms by 18%. This behavior diverges from the usual dynamics observed during bullish phases, where depositing assets for profit-taking purposes tends to predominate.

The outflow of assets from exchanges toward self-custody solutions and staking contracts has accelerated over the last quarter. According to Santiment analysts, this could limit immediate selling pressure if spot demand maintains its current pace. The participation rate in the Proof of Stake mechanism now exceeds 35% of the total circulating supply.
