Ethereum Holders Flee Exchanges Amid Price Surge
The Ethereum price has surged by 27% to $2,528 since August 16, but surprisingly, this rally hasn't prompted a mass sell-off. In fact, according to Santiment analysts, holders have been withdrawing their assets from exchanges at an accelerated pace during this time.
Since the beginning of June, Ethereum reserves on trading platforms have plummeted by 18%, falling from 7.69 million to 6.28 million ETH. This represents a significant shift in investor behavior, as traditionally, people transfer their coins to cold wallets when prices fall to ride out the downturn.
The reason for this divergence lies in the fundamental difference between Ethereum and Bitcoin. While BTC holders need to keep their assets on exchanges to react quickly to market fluctuations, Ethereum investors are transferring their coins directly into staking protocols, with over 35% of ETH now staked on the network.
