Ethereum Holds Key Support as Whales Accumulate Amid ETF Selling

Ethereum (ETH) is at a pivotal point as bulls defend key support levels while facing persistent bearish pressure. The cryptocurrency is trading near $2,230, a critical support region where whale buying and long-term accumulation signals are emerging. The 0.618 Fibonacci retracement level at $2,219 is a focal point, with the daily 200EMA at $2,315 acting as immediate resistance. A sustained move above $2,350 would signal stronger bullish momentum.

Analysts note that Ethereum's current consolidation could set the stage for a significant rally. Joep Gerla highlights a pattern where weeks of sideways trading have been followed by sharp upward moves. If ETH holds the rising trendline and recovers through the $2,460-$2,500 range, the next target could be $2,680-$2,780, with projections extending toward $3,000.

Whale accumulation is on the rise, with address 0x4AB7 purchasing 3,300 ETH worth $7.41 million in the past week. However, ETF-related selling by BlackRock clients, totaling $90.76 million, is counteracting this buying pressure. The balance between these forces will be crucial for Ethereum's near-term direction.

Longer-term forecasts suggest Ethereum could reach $3,500-$5,000 if it successfully transitions from its current base. Holding the $2,190-$2,220 support zone and recovering above $2,350 would strengthen the case for a broader recovery. Until then, the market remains range-bound, with buyers building positions around the lower support levels.
