Ethereum Hovers Near $2,500 as Inflation Report Looms
Ethereum is currently trading near $2,500 as buyers attempt to hold onto their latest gains ahead of the inflation report on September 11. The cryptocurrency has reclaimed the $2,500 area but continues to face resistance between roughly $2,511 and $2,546.
Exchange outflows and whale accumulation are providing support for Ethereum, while retail selling and slower ETF inflows are limiting momentum. The next major macro catalyst is the August Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which could reshape expectations for the Federal Reserve's September Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.
The CPI report will be one of the important data points markets use to reassess the outlook before the September FOMC meeting. A hotter-than-expected August reading could strengthen expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep monetary policy tighter, potentially pushing Treasury yields and the dollar higher.
