Ethereum Hovers Near $2k: Can Investor Appetite Turn the Tide?
Ethereum's price has been stuck below $2,000 for weeks, despite repeated attempts to clear this level. However, investor appetite may be turning in favor of ETH, with a recent U.S. spot ETF Ethereum flow measuring $53.75 million in net inflows on August 4.
The proposed EIP-8361 draft introduces a mechanism called tapered issuance burn, which would automatically burn a growing share of rewards as the share of staked ETH increases. While this is still an open draft, it adds to the bullish narrative surrounding Ethereum's scarcity.
On-chain signals from Novaque Research suggest that Ethereum's supply constraint is increasing, with around 41.4 million ETH (34% of the supply) staked. However, other metrics such as falling exchange reserves and Coinbase Premium Index do not completely justify a strong scarcity narrative.
