Ethereum Institutional Backing Boosts Price Ahead of Key Resolution Date
Ethereum's price is set to be resolved on September 19 at 4 PM UTC, and institutional backing for an Ethereum speed upgrade has sent a bullish signal heading into this critical date.
The Ethereum Institutional holder endorsed EIP-8198 (Quick Slots) on September 18, arguing that faster 10-second blocks are necessary as institutional volume migrates on-chain. This large holder's public alignment with protocol improvement signals conviction in ETH's long-term competitiveness.
A survey backed by 20 DeFi protocol founders supporting Quick Slots has been published by Ethlabs, and the organization is now integrating EIP-8198 specs into the main codebase ahead of the Hegotá upgrade. This broad ecosystem alignment reduces the social risk of the EIP stalling, moving it closer to implementation.
The Ethereum Foundation's Protocol Cluster rated Quick Slots B-level for Hegotá on September 7 and outlined four specific conditions for elevation: full spec, working prototype, ecosystem impact assessment, and compatibility with future consensus architecture. This defined roadmap provides a clear path to inclusion.
ETH closed at $2,616 on September 18 after a sharp recovery from the previous day's 16% crash. The speed and scale of this bounce suggest strong dip-buying demand and short-seller exhaustion at those lows. Approximately $85 million in ETH short positions were liquidated within a single 24-hour window around September 18.
