Ethereum Mainnet Gaming Experiences Resurgence with New Titles
Ethereum.org has revamped its gaming page to showcase the growing trend of games returning to mainnet as L1 scales. The updated page highlights four sections: the history of gaming on Ethereum, games running on mainnet, the L2 gaming ecosystem, and NFT design.
Asphodel, a fully onchain game currently in playtesting on mainnet, is cited as an example of this shift. Ronin, which hard forked into an OP Stack layer 2 on May 12, is also featured prominently on the page.
The new gaming hub also delves into the mechanics of NFTs in games, highlighting titles such as Loot Survivor and Gigaverse, where NFTs behave like factories or hold game state entirely onchain. The page presents two opposing views on gas fees: Kamigotchi counts gas as direct revenue, while Realms.World uses a Cartridge Paymaster to eliminate gas costs.
The games are grouped by genre rather than chain, with titles such as Cambria's Gold Rush and Conquest.eth represented. Ronin treated the page as a scoreboard, proudly declaring itself Ethereum's newest L2 and the first one listed.
