Ethereum (ETH) is maintaining its position near the $2,500 mark as market sentiment shows signs of improvement. Institutional inflows into Ethereum ETFs have turned positive after a lengthy period of outflows, with U.S. spot ETH products recording approximately $24.84 million in net inflows on October 13. This marks the first positive session after 10 consecutive trading days of outflows, with Grayscale’s mini Ethereum ETF contributing $16.73 million and Fidelity’s FETH adding $8.11 million.
Meanwhile, traders are closely monitoring the $2,600 level as a potential breakout point that could push Ethereum toward $3,000. Data from Crypto Rover indicates that long positions on Bitfinex have surged to their highest level in four years, suggesting strong bullish conviction despite the current consolidation around $2,500. This aggressive positioning points to expectations of a significant price move once resistance is cleared.
However, not all indicators are bullish. Ethereum’s Whale vs Retail Delta remains below zero, indicating that larger traders still hold greater short exposure than retail participants. While the imbalance has improved from September’s levels, whale short positioning has yet to shift decisively bullish, contributing to the current price stagnation around $2,500.
Looking ahead, a reclaim of the $2,600 level would significantly improve the technical outlook, potentially setting the stage for a move toward $3,000. Conversely, a failure to hold the $2,400-$2,500 base could lead to a deeper reset before another recovery attempt. The next few trading sessions will be critical in determining whether the underlying improvements in positioning translate into sustained price strength.
