Ethereum Poised to Outshine Bitcoin Amid Structural Shift
Standard Chartered's lead cryptocurrency analyst, Geoffrey Kendrick, believes Strategy's (MSTR) recent Bitcoin sale may signal the start of Ethereum outperformance versus Bitcoin. The company sold just 32 BTC last week, but Kendrick views this as a structural data point rather than an isolated event.
Kendrick notes that Ethereum treasury companies have an advantage over their Bitcoin counterparts due to staking rewards generating income without requiring asset sales. He points to Tom Lee's Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) and SharpLink Gaming (SBET) as potential beneficiaries of increased investor interest in Ethereum treasury companies.
According to Kendrick, investors will reprice ETH treasury stocks higher as a result of the sale, leading to more than 40% relative outperformance for Ethereum by year-end. He forecasts the ETH/BTC ratio will rise to 0.040 from its current level of approximately 0.028.
