Ethereum Prepares for Capacity Boost with Glamsterdam Upgrade
Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade has successfully cleared another crucial testing phase as developers prepare for a proposed October 6 Sepolia deployment.
The latest devnet saw the block gas limit increase from 60 million to 200 million, providing Ethereum with more room to accommodate activity within each block.
Nethermind also completed an impressive 2,302 performance tests while processing 570.7 billion gas in just three minutes and 15 seconds, reaching an average of approximately 2.9 billion gas per second.
The upgrade includes Block-Level Access Lists (BALs) through EIP-7928, which provide validators with information about which accounts and pieces of Ethereum's state a block will access before execution begins.
This allows for more efficient execution as the network handles larger workloads, potentially improving Ethereum's ability to process more activity without requiring every operation to follow a sequential path.
