Ethereum Prepares for Major Upgrades as Founder Eyes Cryptographic World Computer

Ethereum is expanding its capabilities beyond traditional blockchain technology, according to its founder Vitalik Buterin. He describes Ethereum as becoming a 'cryptographic world computer,' which would enable more advanced applications and improve security, privacy, and efficiency.

The platform's major upgrades are expected to begin with the Hegota upgrade, followed by several proposals that will be part of Ethereum's long-term roadmap. These include FOCIL, EIP-8288, Lean consensus, improved state management, and formal verification.

Buterin emphasized that the FOCIL upgrade will make it more complex for block builders to censor transactions, ensuring users can access the network without relying on individual participants. Other upgrades will enhance network security by helping Ethereum reach agreement on transactions.
