Ethereum Price Declines After Profit-Taking Amid Strong Institutional Demand
Ethereum's price has declined by 3.60% over the past day to $2,420, following significant upward momentum in August.
This correction is attributed to profit-taking behavior among holders as ETH surpassed its average on-chain acquisition cost of $2,306, historically triggering selling pressure from investors with unrealized losses.
Blockchain analytics confirm this trend, with the Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) for Ethereum remaining above 1 throughout the previous week, indicating that most ETH transactions resulted in realized gains.
Institutional demand through ETF vehicles remains robust, with US-based spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds capturing $234.51 million in net positive flows on August 27, building on $192.35 million recorded August 26 and $179.80 million on August 25.
