Ethereum Price Drops Amid Broad Market Risk-Off Move
Ethereum's price fell by 1.14% over the past 24 hours, reaching $1,866 during the latest session. This decline is part of a broader risk-off move across the crypto market, which lost about 1.15%. Bitcoin also dropped in value as traders reduced their exposure to major digital assets.
The Federal Reserve's decision to hold interest rates at 3.50% to 3.75% on July 29, with three policymakers supporting a quarter-point increase, kept rate expectations uncertain and pushed traders towards defensive positions. The Bank of Japan also held its policy rate at 1% on July 31, leaving room for further increases as inflation pressures continued.
Middle East tensions kept energy and inflation risks in focus, causing bond yields to rise during July as markets reduced expectations for easier monetary policy. Ethereum's price moved alongside Bitcoin during the decline, indicating that macro conditions are driving the market rather than any specific event on the Ethereum network.
Quantum Solutions disclosed that its subsidiary sold 1,000 ETH on July 30 at a price of $1,903 per coin, receiving $1.903 million after transaction costs. The company needed funds for its artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centre plans. After this sale, Quantum Solutions held 4,764.80 ETH, with room to sell another 2,471 ETH by October 30.
