Ethereum Price Hinges on Fed Decision as Triangle Pattern Points to $3,000

Ethereum's price has been steadily rising over the past month, up 32% to around $2,406. A triangle pattern on its chart indicates a potential breakout above $2,600, which could push the price towards $3,000.

However, this scenario is not as simple as it seems. The previous time Ethereum broke out of a similar triangle pattern, it was triggered by a Treasury buyback announcement and a short squeeze, which provided a catalyst for the move. In contrast, the current market does not have a clear macro catalyst to drive the price upwards.

According to Robinhood prediction traders, there is only a 38% chance that Ethereum finishes September above $2,750, making a breakout to $3,000 a long shot. The Federal Reserve's decision on September 16 will be crucial in determining whether Ethereum can break through the $2,600 resistance level.

Ali Martinez, a chartist, has been tracking the triangle pattern and believes that it could still lead to a significant price increase. However, he emphasizes that the breakout is not guaranteed and requires a close above $2,600 to confirm.
