Ethereum Price Seeks Breakout Above $2,800 Resistance Zone
The Ethereum price has been steadily increasing in September, and analysts are now predicting that it could break through the $2,800 resistance zone. According to data from Bitfinex, the number of short positions on ETH has surged to unusually high levels, which could indicate a potential reversal in price action.
Despite the recent pullback, Ethereum's price chart shows that the token has remained positive over the past seven days. The current consolidation phase is taking place above the former $2,530-$2,570 resistance band, which suggests that the lower side of the market remains well-defined.
The influx of U.S. spot Ether ETFs has also supported the Ethereum price, with four consecutive inflow sessions bringing in a total of $602.8 million. However, it's worth noting that ETF flows alone cannot confirm a breakout, and the price still needs to absorb supply near the recent September highs.
As the month comes to a close, traders are watching for a potential breakout above the $2,750-$2,800 resistance zone, which could expose the next major psychological barrier at $3,000. The Ethereum protocol roadmap also remains a key fundamental catalyst, with developments such as Glamsterdam and Hegotá expected to enhance the network's design in the long term.
