Ethereum Proposal Threatens Decentralization with Yield Cut
EIP-8361 is a proposal submitted by Ethereum France that aims to drastically cut the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for staking Ethereum.
The proposed rule would reduce the yield on Ethereum staking to 0 if the collateralization rate exceeds 50%, effectively cutting off solo stakers and favoring institutional ones.
Ethereum staker, 0xTodd, is critical of the proposal, calling it 'completely meaningless' and stating that it would do more harm than good. He argues that Ethereum's current APR for staking is already relatively low at 2.4%, making solo staking barely profitable or even resulting in a loss.
Todd also points out that institutional stakers have higher volumes and fixed server costs, which would make them less affected by the reduced yield. He emphasizes the importance of solo stakers in maintaining Ethereum's decentralization.
