Ethereum Rallies as SEC Opens Tokenized Stock Trading to Public Blockchains
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently introduced an exemption for tokenized stock trading on public blockchains, giving Ethereum a fresh boost. The exemption allows qualifying tokenized securities venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks through permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools.
Ethereum rallied by 6.5% on September 18 after the exemption was announced, reflecting demand for infrastructure that connects blockchains with established financial activity. In contrast, DigiTap is building a payment product that uses blockchain-based wallets, cards, and tools to make digital assets usable in routine transactions.
DigiTap's presale token $TAP has already sold over 366 million units at the current price of $0.0589, with more than 10,000 cards issued. This live beta product gives buyers a tangible experience before the token reaches public exchange trading, setting it apart from other presales.
The SEC exemption preserves the rights attached to underlying shares, ensuring that qualifying tokenized stocks provide the same privileges as traditional shares, including voting and dividend rights.
