Ethereum Reclaims Key Level Amid Rising Leverage Concerns

Ethereum has staged a notable recovery, climbing back above its 200-day exponential moving average (EMA) band. After dipping below $2,200 in late October, ETH has surged to approximately $2,430, an 11% increase. This rally has reignited optimism, with potential price targets now set at $2,600 and $2,800. However, the sustainability of this upward momentum hinges on maintaining support above the $2,200 level.

While the technical signal is encouraging, concerns are mounting in the derivatives market. Binance’s Estimated Leverage Ratio for Ethereum has reached 0.1862, its highest point in five months. This ratio measures open futures positions relative to ETH reserves on the exchange, indicating that traders are taking on more leverage. The rise in leverage could amplify volatility, as higher exposure makes the market more sensitive to sudden price swings.

The lack of clarity on whether these leveraged positions are predominantly long or short adds another layer of uncertainty. If ETH moves against crowded positions, liquidations could accelerate, potentially undermining the current recovery. For now, the defense of the $2,200 support level remains critical for bulls to maintain their momentum.
