Ethereum Seeks Self-Funded Privacy Pools with 2027 Hegotá Upgrade
Ethereum developers are working towards the 2027 Hegotá upgrade, which will bring significant changes to the network's transaction structure. Two proposed features, Frame Transactions and FOCIL (Fork-Choice Enforced Inclusion Lists), could enable privacy pools to pay their own fees without intermediaries.
Frame Transactions would introduce a programmable transaction format that gives wallets more control over validation, execution, and gas payments. This feature is listed as EIP-8141 and remains under consideration for the Hegotá upgrade. It's designed to work with other features such as Keyed Nonces and Recent Roots.
FOCIL, on the other hand, would allow a committee of validators to publish lists of transactions that block builders are expected to include. This feature is currently scheduled for the Hegotá upgrade and is listed as EIP-7805.
