Ethereum Smashes Records Despite Broader Market Weakness
Ethereum has reported record-breaking numbers in the second quarter of 2026 for several key metrics, including transaction count and throughput, staking ratio, and number of holders.
According to Token Terminal's analysis, Ethereum transactions reached 203.9 million, a 1.7% increase from the previous quarter and a 68.4% rise year-over-year. Throughput also set an all-time high at 25.9 per second, up 0.6% quarter-on-quarter and 68.4% year-on-year.
The staking ratio rose to 32%, while the number of ETH holders reached a new record of 312.1 million. However, monthly active users fell 30% from the previous quarter to 9.2 million.
Total value locked (TVL) across the ecosystem decreased by 9.2% to $287.2 billion, and Ethereum's fully diluted market capitalization dropped by 14.8% to $247.2 billion, reflecting broader market weakness.
