Ethereum Stakeholders Scorn Reward Cap Proposal
The Ethereum Foundation's proposal to cap staking rewards at 0% if half of the network's total supply becomes staked has sparked a heated debate in the Ethereum community.
Mike Silagadze, founder of Ether.fi, a leading liquid staking protocol, expressed strong disapproval, stating that the proposal would be 'harmful to decentralization, adoption, and the network's reputation.'
Steve Berryman, head of Ethereum at Bitwise Asset Management, warned about the potential impact on institutional investors, saying 'Institutional investors need policy certainty. Adjusting the issuance mechanism could create additional uncertainty.'
The proposal aims to address potential risks of over-staking, but industry leaders argue it could concentrate staking power among a few large players, undermining Ethereum's ethos of broad participation.
