Ethereum Staking Exit Queue Hits Record 786,000 ETH
The Ethereum staking exit queue has surged to 786,000 ETH, representing about 2% of the total staked coins, according to data from the Validator Queue. This surge is likely linked to the shutdown of some MetaMask validators following a security incident.
The company attributed the situation to infrastructure issues, and security researcher Kaden estimated that around 17,000 validators with approximately 523,000 ETH may have proactively exited due to the incident.
The increase in the exit queue is a result of the limited rate of validator entry and exit in Ethereum, which is designed to prevent sudden changes in network security parameters. Under current limits, about 57,600 ETH can enter and exit the blockchain daily.
