Ethereum Staking Rewards Proposal Sparks Concerns Among Institutional Investors
Aave's Stani Kulechov has spoken out against a proposed change to Ethereum's staking rewards. He believes that limiting staking returns could harm the Ethereum ecosystem and make it less attractive as an investment asset.
The proposal, which has been put forth within the Ethereum community, aims to reduce staking returns to 0% if the staked ETH ratio exceeds 50% of the total supply. Kulechov argues that this structure could make staking revenues unpredictable and uneconomical for many participants.
Kulechov specifically noted that institutional investors value predictable cash flows when building ETH positions, and that uncertain returns might drive them to alternative blockchain networks offering more stable income.
He also stated that reducing staking yields to zero would render lending and yield strategies conducted via ETH largely ineffective, limiting the primary use case for ETH borrowing to short selling.
