Ethereum Struggles with Gas Limits as Samsung Plans Stablecoin Support
Ethereum's increasing gas limit has led to a significant increase in new state data, pushing clients to implement state expiry and tiering designs. According to a recent report, Ethereum is generating around 116 GiB of new state data per year, which is putting pressure on the network.
This issue is not unique to Ethereum, as other networks such as Solana have also faced similar challenges in the past. In 2024, Solana experienced an outage due to a client monoculture, highlighting the importance of diversity in validator clients. The report emphasizes that having multiple client implementations can help mitigate risks and ensure network resilience.
Samsung has recently announced plans to add stablecoin support to its Samsung Wallet roadmap, which could potentially disrupt traditional payment systems. The company's mockup for a Galaxy Card combo also suggests a shift towards more integrated mobile payment solutions.
