Ethereum Surges Past $2,800 as Institutional Inflows Soar
Ethereum's price has been rising, reaching $2,800 earlier this week before experiencing a brief pullback. This marks an important short-term marker following a recent bullish pattern breakout.
Despite slower growth compared to other cryptocurrencies like Hyperliquid and Zcash, which posted stronger performance over the past month, Ethereum shows signs of resilience as it continues to attract new accumulation, primarily driven by institutional and corporate activity.
Two on-chain metrics, volume trends and the MVRV Ratio, signal potential for renewed upside in Ethereum. Analysts have observed that both the seven-day and thirty-day moving averages for ETH transaction volume crossed this week for the first time since November 2025, often preceding substantial rallies for the token.
Institutional inflows are also on the rise, with spot Ethereum ETFs seeing six consecutive trading sessions of positive net inflows totaling $834 million in new investments. Tom Lee's BitMine has purchased an additional $140 million worth of ETH this week, bringing their total holdings to 3,967,210 ETH valued at approximately $11.6 billion.
As Ethereum trades at $2,713.96, technical analysts now identify $3,400 as the next major resistance above the $2,800 range, with many viewing a decisive move past $2,800 as potentially unlocking a new phase of upside for Ethereum, with $4,000 emerging as the medium-term price target.
