Ethereum Surges Past Bitcoin as ETF Inflows Fuel Market Activity
Cryptocurrency markets have seen significant activity in recent weeks, with Ethereum outperforming Bitcoin. While Bitcoin has risen roughly 8% over the past month, Ethereum has surged by 11%. This disparity is notable, especially given that capital rotation and a bullish technical setup are strengthening the case for ETH.
According to Bitfinex, sentiment around Bitcoin is 'warm' due to softer prices still supported by strong underlying demand. However, the exchange cautioned that one strong week does not constitute a trend yet.
Bitfinex highlighted that on September 29th, Ethereum's spot trading volume was 300% higher than Bitcoin's, marking the highest ratio since September 2025.
The influx of money into Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) has been significant. From September 17 to 27, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $2.77 billion in net inflows, contributing to seven consecutive positive U.S. trading sessions and bolstering Bitcoin's recovery above $85,000.
Santiment Intelligence warned that rapidly accelerating inflows following a substantial price rise can signal FOMO (fear of missing out) and increase the risk of an overheated market. 'Healthy demand is encouraging; euphoric demand is where risk starts rising,' the analytics firm stated.
